How to Make 4th of July Charcuterie Board
- Prepare The Pretzels: Melt the almond bark according to the package instructions until smooth and creamy. Dip each pretzel into the melted almond bark to coat completely. Sprinkle with sanding sugar before the chocolate sets.
- Make The Marshmallow Stars: Press a star-shaped cookie cutter into the center of a marshmallow. Push down evenly to ensure a clean cut and remove.
- Add Berry Bowls: Place the blueberries and blackberries into two small bowls and set one in the top left corner and the other in the bottom right corner of the tray. I found my star-shapped bowls here!
- Form A Flag: Create two rows of strawberries, a line of marshmallows, two lines of raspberries, then add two rows of chocolate-covered pretzels. Finish the arrangement with two additional rows of strawberries.
Serving Suggestions
The best part of the 4th of July is the food that accompanies the fireworks. Friends and family will love the look of this fruit board, although any alternating red and white fruits and snacks will give this charcuterie board an American flag feel.
This snack and fruit charcuterie board pairs perfectly with a fun fruit dip. When creative fruit platters call for dessert dips, I’ve got plenty for you! My chocolate chip cookie dough dip, cannoli dip, funfetti dip can all be made festive for the fourth!
Tips & Variations
- Fruits For The Forth: For a patriotic touch, consider using red and blue fruits, like strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and watermelon. You can also add in some white fruits like bananas, apples, or pears to complete the color scheme.
- Keep Your Fruit Fresh: To keep your fruit looking fresh and appetizing, store it in the refrigerator until just before serving. You can also squeeze some lemon juice over the cut fruits to prevent browning.
- Add Savory and Sweet Snacks: In addition to fruit, you can add some savory snacks, like cheese cubes, pretzels, nuts, or popcorn. You can also include sweet treats like chocolate-covered strawberries or mini cupcakes for a fun variety.
- Decorate Your Dessert: Feel free to arrange the fruits in a decorative pattern or use a mix of different shapes and sizes. You can also use themed decorations like American flag toothpicks or festive napkins to add an extra flair.
Proper Storage
- To Store: Store any leftovers in separate containers in the refrigerator for 1-3 days. Some fruits will spoil faster than others.
- Make-Ahead: You can wash your fruits 2-3 hours ahead of time, and store them separately in airtight containers in the refrigerator. This can make assembly fast and stress-free.
