Either almond bark or candy wafer melts are the best options to coat your patties because they create a smooth texture. However, if you choose to use chocolate chips, you will need to add 1 tbsp of coconut oil to each 8 oz of chocolate chips you’re melting for a smooth finish.

Homemade Peppermint Patties are easy to make from scratch and taste like the popular store bought candy, but are even better because they're DIY! A soft flavored filling covered in chocolate makes the perfect minty treat for holiday parties and gift giving.

Ingredients
  

  • ¾ cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 ½ teaspoons peppermint extract
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 pound chocolate almond bark
  • Sprinkles optional

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl mix together the sweetened condensed milk and peppermint extract.

  • Next using an electric mixer slowly start to mix in your powdered sugar. You are looking for a stiff dough that is not sticky.

  • Once your dough is formed you can begin to roll your dough into balls and place them on a parchment lined tray. Gently flatten the balls down into a thick disc shape (2 inch disks that were about 1/4 inch thickness).
  • Place the tray into the freezer. Let the patties freeze for about an hour.
  • When you are ready to dip, melt your almond bark in 30 second intervals in the microwave until all melted and smooth.
