Garlic Bread In The Air Fryer
Our super simple Air Fried Garlic Bread makes the best bite of buttery homemade garlic bread in a matter of minutes.
Using a handful of fresh ingredients, this delicious garlic bread is so much better (and a bit healthier) than store-bought frozen garlic bread in a bag, especially because there’s no preservatives or additives and no extra sugar needed.
This air fryer recipe makes it so easy to turn a plain loaf of bread into a perfectly toasted garlicy side for Tomato Basil Pasta, Spaghetti and Meatballs, or Chicken Parmesan dinner. Simply slather the garlic butter to cover each piece, then cook, slice, and serve with supper.
And if you like a cheesy garlic bread, top your loaf with mozzarella, extra parmesan or a combination of the two.

Air Fryer Garlic Bread Ingredients
- Loaf of Italian or French bread
- Unsalted butter
- Olive oil
- Fresh garlic
- Fresh parsley
- Salt
- Grated parmesan cheese (optional garnish)
Substitutions and Additions
- Use A Loaf You Love: You can use any sturdy, crusty bread such as Italian, French, sourdough, or other ciabatta bread loaves.
- Forgo The Fresh: I often do not have fresh garlic or fresh parsley on hand. The minced garlic in a jar and dried parsley will work just as well as the fresh versions. You can even use garlic powder in a pinch. You may want to cut back on the proportions used if using the pantry versions, as they are typically a bit stronger in flavor than the fresh versions.
- Vegan Version: You can easily make this recipe vegan-friendly by swapping the butter for your favorite brand of vegan butter.
- Serve With Sauce: You can serve your garlic bread with some dipping sauce on the side. Some of my favorites are ranch, marinara, or Alabama white sauce.

Best Bread For Air Fryer Garlic Bread
I find that sometimes different grocery stores, or bakeries, carry various sizes of bread loaves. Also, some carry Italian loaves, some French bread loaves, and others ciabatta bread loaves. Any of these will work.
If your loaf is larger than 8 ounces, you may want to double the butter mixture to be able to cover the bread completely. You will need to cut your bread loaf down to pieces that will also fit into your particular brand of air fryer. You may need to do more than 2 batches to cook an entire loaf if it is large.
Tips For Making the Best Air Fryer Garlic Bread
- Make sure you follow your brand’s factory instructions for preheating your air fryer if your brand does not have a preheat setting.
- A fork works really well to mash up the butter and other ingredients. You can also use a small plastic spatula to mash and blend all the ingredients together.
- A sharp serrated knife works best for slicing your loaf of bread.
- Make sure you lay the garlic bread in a single layer in the air fryer basket so the air has space to circulate. That way it will get crispy all the way around.
How to Store And Reheat Air Fryer Garlic Bread
This air fryer garlic bread should be served immediately. The garlic bread does not keep well for longer than 24 hours, tightly wrapped in plastic wrap in the refrigerator once it has been baked. You can reheat any leftover garlic bread in the air fryer at 330°F for 2-3 minutes or until warmed through. You could also microwave it for 30-45 seconds.
How To Freeze Air Fryer Garlic Bread
You can make this garlic bread ahead of time and store it tightly wrapped in plastic wrap, then aluminum foil, in the freezer for up to 2 months. Thaw in the refrigerator prior to cooking in the air fryer. You will make the butter mixture, spread it onto the sliced loaf of Italian bread, then close the bread pieces back together (buttered sides facing each other) before tightly wrapping them. I like to use a black sharpie pen to write on the aluminum foil the date and cooking time for the garlic bread. This makes it super easy to make on a busy weeknight for dinner.
