Easy Loaded Air Fryer Homemade Fries
This recipe was totally inspired by one of my favorite restaurants in our town. They serve garlic parmesan fries as a side option with their sandwiches. I get them as a side every time we go there because they are so darn good. I knew I had to try to make my own homemade version. I’m happy to report that these air fryer fries are just as good as the restaurant fries and way less fattening!
I already had my trusty Air Fryer French Fries recipe, so it was just a matter of perfecting the garlic parmesan topping. The fries turn out perfect crispy every time and the garlic parmesan mixture is seriously to die for! Time to switch up your classic French fries with this recipe, and once you do, you’ll never go back!

Variations / Options / Add-ins
- DIPPING SAUCE: I love serving these fries with dipping sauce. I’m a total Ranch girl when it comes to dipping my fries. But, these garlic parmesan fries are especially delicious served with aioli!
- GARLIC: You can use minced garlic or garlic salt to achieve the garlic flavor in your fries! You can leave garlic off some of the fries if you have people who aren’t fans.
- PARMESAN: Grated or shredded parmesan cheese will work for this recipe. This is really more of a preference thing.
How To Air Fry French Fries
Air fryers make cooking homemade fries so simple! These will come together in 4 easy steps and just under 20 minutes.
- Peel and cut the potato into fries
PRO-TIP: Consider investing in a mandoline. They make cutting potatoes for french fries so much easier! We also use it for so many other vegetables too! - Mix fries with oil, salt and pepper
- Place in the air fryer basket and cook for 17 minutes at 370. (all air fryers cook a bit differently, cook until you achieve your desired crunchiness!)
PRO-TIP: Don’t overfill your air fryer. This is a common mistake and it will keep the fries from cooking evenly and getting nice and crispy! I recommend tossing the fries mid-way through cooking. Just pull the bowl of the air fryer out and give them a toss with a spatula! This helps them cook more evenly. - Top cooked fries with garlic and parmesan cheese.
PRO-TIP:If you are having trouble coating the fries with the garlic, parsley, and parmesan cheese, lightly spritz the fries with a little cooking spray or oil so that they will stick to the fries.
How to Store Leftover Air Fryer Fries
Store leftover fries in a sealed container in the fridge. When reheating, simply pop the fries back in the air fryer for a few minutes, until they are heated through. This will keep them nice and crispy!

FAQs Air Fryer Fries Recipe
These fries are a great side with anything off the grill. It saves you from turning on the oven, making for the perfect combo during the hot summer months! I especially like to serve air fryer garlic parmesan fries with burgers, grilled salmon, steak, or grilled chicken.
If your air fryer french fries are soggy, it is likely due to excess moisture. First, make sure you are not overcrowding them (consider cooking them in two batches). If you are rinsing or soaking your potatoes before frying them, make sure you have completely patted them dry.
Some swear by soaking potatoes to create a crisper french fry. Personally, I don’t find it necessary when air frying french fries.
The best type of potatoes for air frying french fries are russet (aka Idaho potatoes) and Yukon gold potatoes. Russet will give you that more traditional restaurant-style tasting french fry. While Yukon has a deeper and richer flavor.

Jenn’s Notes
- Don’t overfill your air fryer. This is a common mistake and it will keep the fries from cooking evenly and getting nice and crispy!
- Layer the cut potatoes in a single layer in the air fryer (not stacked), and work in batches if using multiple potatoes.
- I recommend tossing the fries mid-way through cooking. Just pull the bowl of the air fryer out and give them a toss with a spatula! This helps them cook more evenly.
- If you are having trouble coating the fries with the garlic, parsley, and parmesan cheese, lightly spritz the fries with a little cooking spray or oil so that they will stick to the fries.
I like the recipe but I only use one potato because 3 is way too many for one person.
I look forward to trying this recipe. Does it call for fresh or dried parsley? What type of oil is suggested? Thanks!
You can use the oil of your choice – I used olive oil. For the parsley – dried is fine (but fresh is always better)
At 70 years old Iโm trying to cook for myself for the first time in my 70 years. I went from my mother cooking for me & my daddy to marry a wonderful man who started cooking after about 3 days of me cooking Hamburger Helper for dinner when we would get home from work. He continued cooking all meals up until he got sick, he had cancer & for 13 months we were in the hospital more days than we were home. The Chemo was so strong and there was 3 different kinds of Chemo that he had to take piggyback, one after another. We did this for 3?months straight, it was so hard on his body causing one infection after another. We we would get home DJ was so nausea that he didnโt even want me to try to cook something. My mother lived close by and she would bring food after for us to eat that would not have an odor. He ate very little because it would come back up. For months &months this went on then it masterized all over his body. So here l am at 70 years old and canโt even make me a tasty meal from a recipe that is eatable. Iโve understood your recipes better than anyone else. My daughter cooks for her family and always invites me but every night leaving home gets old so she fixes me several plates and l eat the leftovers. She watched her daddy & helped him sometimes. He liked the kitchen by himself most of the time. My daughter & l would sit at table or island and catch up on the daily events, etcโฆ.. l really didnโt mean to go in such detail when l started this post l just wanted to tell you all your recipes sounds so good and l can follow your recipes better than anyone. Thank you for going into detail with your recipes.
The fry recipe looks delicious, and am going to make soon. All fries are my families favorite
