What are Boozy Popsicles?
Boozy popsicles are simply popsicles made for adults that contain alcohol. They come in a variety of flavors and can be made with different types of liquor, fruit juices, and other ingredients.
How Much Booze Makes Perfect Boozy Popsicles?
We want these popsicles to be boozy and delicious, but also nice and solid! Because alcohol freezes at a different temperature than other ingredients, we need to adjust the recipe to get the perfect balance of flavor and texture. So basically, we found a ration of 4 to 1 works best, That is for every 4 ounces of juice, you will want 1 ounce of liquor.
Ingredients Notes
- Watermelon, cubed, yields approximately 2 cups of watermelon juice. Instead of making your watermelon juice, you can pick up a container ready to drink at the store. Just make sure there is no added sugar!
- Lemonade – You can pick your favorite brand or flavor of lemonade.
- Watermelon vodka – We were going for a watermelon flavor, but you can really pick any flavor vodka and juice you like. There are super yummy flavors of infused vodka out there – get creative!

How to Make Boozy Popsicles
- BLEND: Put all of the ingredients in a blender for 30 seconds or until smooth.
- POUR: Use a funnel to pour the watermelon juice into the freezer bags
- FREEZE: Lay the bags flat on a cookie sheet and freeze them for 24 hours before serving.
Tips for Picking the Perfect Watermelon
- Tip 1: Make sure to get a seedless watermelon.
- Tip 2: Choose a round watermelon instead of an oblong one. Round watermelon tends to be sweeter and less watery, which is much better for this recipe.
- Tip 3: Check your watermelon for a yellow spot. If it has a yellow spot, that is where it sat on the vine. The longer that it sat on the vine, the more yellow the watermelon would be!
- Tip 4: The brown spots on a watermelon are good indicators of sweetness. They show where the sugar seeps out!
Tips & Variations
- Sugar: Try a sip of the watermelon juice before making your recipe. If it’s not sweet enough, add sugar a tablespoon at a time until it’s right for your taste.
- Straining: You do not need to strain your watermelon juice, but I would suggest mixing it before pouring into the popsicle molds.
