Hi there everyone! It’s Gina from Kleinworth & Co. Today I’m back to share with you a recipe for a great treat that is gaining in popularity…Brownie Brittle. Have you ever had it before? It’s incredibly delicious. Any brownie lover will tell you that the best part of a brownie is the chewy edges. You know, the parts that touch the sides of the pan. It’s a little crisp & a little chewy & definitely the best part in my opinion. So brownie brittle is like that – only every single bite of it. You can see why it’s so popular & why it’s a favorite of all my yummy bar recipes. Today I’m sharing my recipe for it so you can make your own.
You can really add any sort of mix in treats you like. Or you can leave them plain.
I chose chocolate chips & walnuts because those are my favorites when making traditional brownies.
I have to warn you- this is completely addicting. It’s quite possible & probable that you could eat all of this in a sort amount of time. It’s incredibly good. My hubs liked having some mixed into his ice cream. Not a bad idea if you ask me. Brownies & ice cream certainly go quite well together don’t they?!
Ingredients
2 large egg whites
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3 tbsp cocoa powder
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup walnuts
1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees
Line a 9×13 baking sheet with parchment & set aside
In mixer bowl whisk egg whites until frothy (should look like well lathered shampoo)
Add sugar – whisk to combine
Whisk in oil & vanilla
Add flour, cocoa powder, salt & baking soda – whisk
Spread into a thin layer on prepared baking sheet – smoothing out as thin as you can with a spatula
Sprinkle on chocolate chips & walnuts
Bake 15-20 minutes
Let cool to room temperature on baking sheet before breaking apart
Enjoy!
