Chicken Alfredo Pasta Bake Substitutions and Additions
- Choose Your Chicken: You can use a store bought shredded rotisserie chicken or cooked chopped or shredded chicken for this recipe.
- Pick Your Pasta: I prefer to use penne pasta for my chicken Alfredo casseroles as it’s perfect for coating with cream sauce. Bowtie pasta, rotini pasta, or elbow pasta will also work well.
- Change The Cheese: For a different flavor, try using some pecorino romano, asiago cheese, or your favorite freshly grated cheese instead of the parmesan.
- Add Vitamin-Rich Veggies: Feel free to mix some vegetables into this dish, such as peas, spinach, kale, tomatoes, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, broccoli, or cauliflower.
Chicken Alfredo Bake Recipe Tips
- If you are looking for a shortcut, you can opt-out of making your own sauce and use a store bought jar of Alfredo sauce!
- You can add a dash of chicken stock to the baking dish if needed when reheating.
- You can add a little of the pasta water if needed to help bind and thicken the sauce.
- Feel free to add crushed red pepper flakes to your chicken and Alfredo bake for a bit of heat.

What to serve with Chicken Alfredo Pasta Bake
This pasta dish is a hearty, protein-packed meal on its own, but pairs perfectly with a simple side. Try serving it with some garlic bread, Easy Cheese Stuffed Garlic Rolls, Cheesy Pull-Apart Garlic Bread, or cauliflower breadsticks.
Another great addition to this dish is to start out with a garden salad or to serve some roasted veggies, Broccoli Salad, or green beans on the side.
