No-Bake Rice Krispie EAster Treat
This no-bake Chocolate Bird Nests recipe is a quick way to turn a basic breakfast cereal into an adorable and delicious dessert.
Made with just a few ingredients in mere minutes, it couldn’t be any easier to create these cookies: simply mix the cereal with melted chocolate and peanut butter, add the mixture to your muffin tins, let the nests harden, and top them with a trio of Mini Cadbury Eggs.
I love the combination of chocolate and peanut butter (have you tried my Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs or my Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Pie?)
Don’t forget to share these snacks with your favorite peeps and serve them with some Hot Cross Buns or Easter Jello Pie!
Why I Love These Easter Birds Nest Cookies
- Super easy to make: With just 4 ingredients and no baking required, it’s a breeze to whip up.
- Perfect for Easter: These adorable nests are not only tasty but also double as festive decor.
- Fun for all ages: A great recipe for getting kids involved in the kitchen or for anyone looking to add a playful touch to their holiday spread.
Recipe Ingredients
- Cocoa Rice Krispies – If you cannot find chocolate rice krispies, you can used any chocolate puffed cereal, like Cocoa Pebbles or even chocolate cornflakes.
- Peanut butter – Creamy peanut butter is recommended for a smooth texture. Any creamy store-bought peanut butter will work for this recipe. However, I would avoid using homemade or natural peanut butter because they are not as creamy. You can also use your favorite nut butter. If you have nut allergies, try using SunFlower butter, almond butter, soy butter, or any other you prefer.
- Milk chocolate chips – Feel free to use semi-sweet chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips, or even white chocolate chips if you prefer.
- Cadbury mini eggs – Mini whopper eggs, jelly beans, Hershey’s Candy Coated Eggs, Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs, M&M’s Peanut Butter Speckled Eggs, or M&M’s Easter Peanut Chocolate Candies can be used instead of Cadbury milk chocolate eggs.

Can I use regular Rice Krispies, can’t find the cocoa ones anywhere.
I throughly sprayed my muffin tin and the nest stuck to the tin
Do you melt the creamy peanut butter too, either with the chocolate or separate? I’m confused on the word pour the chocolate and peanut butter. Peanut butter doesn’t pour. Thanks!
Just stir the peanut butter into the melted chocolate (right when you finish melting it). This will help it “pour”). I will clarify in the instructions. Thank you for your comment!
Have someone highly Allergic to peanut butter do you think marshmallow would work
I haven’t tried it but you could make it more like a rice krispie treat.
Do you put the peanutbutter in with the hips to melt?
I just made the full size and they are a mess to eat. Definitely not finger food. I’m trying to decide hire you salvage them, even if it’s something other than a birds nest.
These are much nicer in the mini size, messy to eat from full size muffin cups!
I had sample yearssssss ago in a store that just opened I made them several times now years later I wanted to make some more but the recipe has disappeared. So. Last time I made them I guested how they were made they turned out good I see I used all right ingredients. I used shred Wheat. I would say it was back late 60’s or early 70’s I made them for a church school department of 3-6 year olds with the Easter eggs but I used mini & added about 1/2 dozen in nests. The children loved them I’m now want to make for great, great children & a friends children or Seniors friends in Retirement home.
How long should you let them set in the freezer for?
