I have a new obsession…. life hacks! What exactly is a life hack, you ask?
These are the tips you read on line and you hit your hand on your head and say “OMG, SO smart!…. How did I not know that??”
There are THOUSANDS of life hacks out there! There are hundreds of websites with tons of life hacks. However, I have sifted through these sites and am sharing some of my favorites. I have found the best site for life hacks to be 1000lifehacks.com, (although they are well over 1000 now!)
Wash kids Legos in mesh bag from Gettinby – I am SO excited about this! I hate washing legos, but they get totally yucky dirty! This will make cleaning them super easy! Goes right along with my OCD!!
Cut ice cream with a knife when serving to a crowd from Real Simple – I HATE scooping ice cream at my kids birthday party! I started using ice cream cups, but my kids don’t really like them… they like the “fun” ice cream! This is a great way to get your cake and eat it too (ha, ha, ha!!)
Use Airheads to cutout letters for Birthday cake from Studio DIY – I CANNOT write with those little gel decorator pens – I totally stink at it! This is absolute genius!! This will happen!
Fill water balloons and freeze them as a cooler – Pretty and practical – two of my favorite things!!
Place freezer pops upright for an clean cut from lifehacksdaily.com – This is just one of those things that annoys me. I hate the sound of cutting ice. Don’t judge!
Magnetic cups for fridge from Adventures in Pinteresting – We go through 1000 cups a day. I don’t understand it, all of a sudden I will turn around and my entire top rack of the dishwasher is totally full! I absolutely LOVE this idea!!!
Cut a sticker in half to help with left and right shoe from One Creative Housewife – This will end the problem of your child walking out of the house with his shoes on the wrong feet! Problem solved!!
Dollar bill to measure 6 inches from Thread Magazine – I NEVER knew this! This one will for sure come in handy!
Rubber band on paint can from Martha Stewart – WHY didn’t I ever think of this one? I HATE when the paint can gets all drippy!
Marshmallow in Brown Sugar to Keep it Soft from Real Simple – This is a game changer if it works!!
I know that you all have some GREAT life hacks out there!! Please, please, please share them with me!!!

Save your empty pickle jar to put left over cooking oil/grease then throw it away when it’s full. Keeps your sink clog free.
Great idea….but why not put a piece of string in the jar and then hang the solid block outside for the birds. I do this in winter and they love it.
way too many exclamation marks going on in here…
I know RIGHT!!!! I love my exclamation marks!!
I have a 10 pound bag of white sugar that is hard as a rock!! Any tips to soften white sugar?
To get out red Kool aid stains boil water and pour over stain. Then rub Dawn dish soap on it then wash. I Did this on my 8 yr old son’s neon green shirt and our worked perfectly. Looks brand new!
SO good to know…thanks Tracy
speaking of koolAid. My niece wanted red ombre hair. Her mom took some cherry koolaid and some warm water and laid the ends of her hair in it for about 20 minutes. It dyed her blonde/auburn hair a beautiful red along the bottom part. It was still there a month later! Warning though she tried to dye it an orange color and it turned it green. She has tried grape and cherry and it looks really cool! Just like she went to a salon.
just heat rock hard brown sugar in the microwave for a few seconds. ta-da easier than marshmallows
I buy 25 pounds of brown sugar at a time so a couple of marshmallows isn’t quite enough. I fill knee high pantyhose with rice and throw it in the big bucket I store it in and it keeps my brown sugar nice and soft!
Love the marshmallow in brown sugar trick! Using this now 🙂
The file system is awesome. I also use it for passwords! Thanks for all the great info!
kee-pass is also a great way to store passwords. It’s free. I found out about it because the credit union I work for uses it. I now have it on my home computer.
Hi Jen,

Thanks for stopping by, Sarah!
You can also leave a piece of bread in your brown sugar and it will keep it soft. Change it out when the bread gets stale.
Also, if you like cold tea, but don’t feel like making it every day, or need a potable way to take iced tea with you, use a bottle of water. Fold a bag of tea in half length-wise and slip the tea into the water bottle, leaving the tag hang outside the bottle. Screw the lid back on and let it sit for 24-48 hours to “brew” in a window. Take the teabag out when it’s dark enough for your liking. You can also add some bruised mint leaves for a more refreshing tea.
LOri – Love the cold tea tip!!
In Florida we call that Sun Tea. Fill a pitcher of water add several tea bags, wrap the strings around the handle and set out on deck. Tea will be ready in no time. (you could even cover it with a piece of cling wrap if you are worried about little bugs flying in on accident)
I love it with the mint too.
