Peanut Butter Brownies bring my two favorite things together in one delicious dessert. These moist and chewy brownies swirled with scoops of creamy peanut butter are always the hit of the party!
To me, there are few things more satisfying than a warm, fudgy brownie served with some creamy vanilla ice cream… except when someone adds peanut butter swirl and peanut butter cups to the mix!
Wow! This recipe is off the hook like I mean way off the hook!

Ingredients
If you’re a consistent baker like me, you’ll probably have more of these staple items in your fridge and pantry. The only thing I usually don’t have on hand is the mini peanut butter cups because I mean honestly, who can resist those little guys? The question is, who gets to them first, me or my kids?
So, to make this recipe from scratch you’ll need the following:
- 1 ½ cups milk chocolate chips
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs, room temperature
- 2 tablespoons whole milk
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- ½ cup chopped peanut butter cups
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter

How To Make Peanut Butter Brownies
In a heat-safe bowl, microwave the chocolate chips and the oil.
PRO-TIP: For best results microwave for 45 seconds. Stir the chips and oil, return to the microwave, and heat for another 10 seconds. Stir until the chips and oil are smooth.
In a medium-size bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking soda, and salt.
In a small bowl, whisk together the eggs, vanilla extract and milk. Add to the flour mixture. Now add the melted chips and stir until the batter is just combined.
PRO-TIP: Let the chocolate chip mixture cool before adding it to the egg mixture. Otherwise it will seize up.
Toss the chopped peanut butter cups with 1 tablespoon of flour.
Fold the coated chopped peanut butter cups into the batter. Mix just until all ingredients are combined.
IF USING A BOXED BROWNIE MIX: If you want to use a boxed mix, prepare it according to the directions on the box and follow along the recipe starting here!
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
Using a 1 – 1 ½ tablespoon cookie scoop, or a regular tablespoon, dollop the peanut butter on top of the brownie batter.
Use a knife to swirl the peanut butter.
Bake for 30 minutes. Allow the brownies to completely cool before cutting.
How To Make Peanut Butter Brownies Using Brownie Mix

- Preheat the oven to 350*. Line a 8x8 nonstick baking dish with parchment paper and set it aside.
- In a heat safe small bowl, add the chocolate chips and the oil. Microwave for 45 seconds. Stir the chips and oil, return to the microwave and heat for another 10 seconds. Stir until the chips and oil are smooth. Set it aside.
- Using a medium size mixing bowl, whisk together the ½ cup all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking soda and salt. Set it aside.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the eggs, vanilla extract and milk. Add to the flour mixture. Now add the melted chips and stir until the batter is just combined. (make sure to let the chocolate chip mixture cool before adding, otherwise it will seize up.)

- If you really want an even more rich brownie, add up to 1 cup of the chopped peanut Buttercups.
- You can also use semi-sweet chocolate chips instead of milk chocolate.

Hello, if I double the recipe, do I use the same size pan and increase baking time?
No, they will be way too thick and never cook all the way through. You will need a larger pan or make half and then the other half in the recommended pan.
