Our Ravioli Lasagna recipe is made with layers of frozen cheese ravioli in place of the usual lasagna noodles. It’s a delicious and easy alternative to a traditional lasagna and makes the perfect easy weeknight meal! (I like to call it Ravioli Bake or “cheaters lasagna” because it is a total no-fail recipe!)
My family loves eating this meal so much, but I love making it! It is super quick and easy and the prep time is less than 15 minutes! You can have dinner on the table in less than an hour in total!
Ravioli Lasagna Casserole Recipe
Lasagna is a type of wide, flat noodle that is said to be one of the oldest types of pasta! Now, I don’t know about you, but when I hear the word lasagna, I don’t think of the noodle itself, but rather I think of one of my all-time favorite dinner dishes!
My mom had the best lasagna recipe growing up. I used to love it when she would make it for our family dinners. But, one thing’s for sure, when she made lasagna it was a process! It took quite a bit of time to prepare all of the ingredients needed for her famous lasagna.
I have no shortage of lasagna recipes as well! With my son a vegetarian, we all enjoy our Vegetarian Lasagna together (which is nice not to have to make two separate dinners).
We have also recently become a fan of the instant pot and have a great Instant Pot Lasagna recipe that not only tastes amazing, but you have to see it to believe how awesome it looks.
However, I am always on the lookout for new and easier ways to make this classic favorite pasta casserole that I love so much.
When I came across ravioli lasagna at Costco a few weeks ago I was super excited. I couldn’t wait to make my own version of it! What an amazing idea – mixing my favorite lasagna with my other favorite, ravioli, seemed like a no brainer!
After trying this multiple times (and having it approved by the troops) I can sincerely say that I won’t be switching back to traditional lasagna recipe anytime soon. This ravioli bake is much easier and it makes for one heck of a cheesy, delicious dinner!
The substitution of ravioli for the traditional lasagna noodles means two major things.
First, it means that you don’t have to worry about boiling and cooking the noodles first. You can simply put the frozen ravioli right in the dish!
Second, it means extra cheesy goodness. Instead of boring old noodles you have cheese filled noodles!
You are totally going to love this recipe! It’s changed the way I think about making lasagna and it has made me love two of my favorite pasta dishes even more.
Read on below to find the ingredients list and detailed instructions for how to make this one of a kind dish!
Ravioli Lasagna Ingredients
The ingredients you’ll need for your ravioli lasagna are pretty similar to what you would need for a traditional lasagna dish. One major difference is obviously that you’ll forego the traditional lasagna noodles in place of ravioli!
Also, since your ravioli will already be filled with cheese, you won’t have to worry about a cheese filling like ricotta or cottage cheese!
- Ground beef
- Minced garlic
- Garlic powder
- Salt
- Pepper
- Italian seasoning
- Spaghetti sauce
- Square frozen ravioli: You may need less depending on size of your ravioli. I use cheese filled!
- Mozzarella cheese
- Parsley
How to Make Ravioli Lasagna
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- In a medium skillet brown the ground beef with the minced garlic, garlic powder, salt, pepper and Italian seasoning. Drain excess fat.
- Reserve 1 cup of the spaghetti sauce and set it aside. Add the remaining sauce to the browned ground beef. Stir and heat through
- Spread ½ cup of the reserved spaghetti sauce evenly over the bottom of the 8×8 baking dish.
- Now begin the layering. First using one-third of the ravioli make a single layer over the sauce. Top with half of the ground beef.
- Sprinkle with ½ cup of mozzarella cheese. Make a single layer of the ravioli over the cheese.
- Top with the rest of the ground beef.
- Sprinkle ½ cup of mozzarella cheese. Place the final one-third of the ravioli on top.
- Top with remaining ½ cup of reserved spaghetti sauce. Sprinkle it with the remaining one cup of mozzarella cheese.
- Bake the casserole at 350°F for 30 to 35 minutes or until the cheese is completely melted and the casserole is bubbling around the edges.
Tips for Making Ravioli Bake
This is such an easy recipe, but I always like to provide some tips to make it even easier!
- Count out your ravioli into three piles so that you know exactly what you have to work with for each layer.
- If some of your frozen ravioli are stuck together you can microwave them for 10-15 seconds, enough to pull them apart.
- Make sure that when you are placing the ravioli in your lasagna, that you place them next to each in even rows and just barely touching. You don’t want them overlapping or on top of one another!
What to Serve with Ravioli Lasagna Casserole
This dish in and of itself is amazing, and it really doesn’t need much assistance. However, I am a sucker for garlic bread and I will take any excuse I get to make it!
This recipe is almost screaming for a loaf of cheesy, buttery garlic bread to go with it! Check out my garlic pull-apart bread for the perfect recipe!
I also love to serve it with a Greek-style salad, green beans or some roasted vegetables to round it out. Finish it off by serving with our other favorite lasagna recipe – Chocolate Lasagna!
How to Store
- FRIDGE: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- FREEZER: Freeze leftovers and warm them up in the microwave later.
How to Make Ahead
Planning ahead? This ravioli lasagna bake is perfect for prepping and storing in advance. Assemble the recipe, place it into a throw-away foil container or freezer-safe casserole dish with a lid, and wrap tightly with foil before freezing until you’re ready to serve.
When reheating an entire pan of this delicious lasagna treat, simply heat at 350°F for 20 minutes (or until thoroughly heated) – voila!

Get ready to fall in love with this recipe! I know I have. It combines two of my all-time favorite pasta dishes into one, not to mention it is SO easy to put together.
I’m willing to bet that Ravioli Lasagna is going to become a family favorite, just as it has around my house!
This sounds yummy. I have a similar recipie. I use chicken & Alfredo sauce, & I put a layer of spinach in it.
I tried this at a bring a dish lunch it went over well I added Italian sausage and extra sauce
Sorry Princess this is a recipe that will never be made in my house again.
I did everything you said to do in your recipe. The exact size pan, the 25 oz of ravioli the meat the cheese the sauce.
I ran out of ravioli on the last layer ran out of sauce too.
The family only ate it because I had an extra 1/2 jar of sauce in my refrigerator.
My first time seeing your website and my first recipe made.
Never again.
Maria I had the exact same problem and experience that you had. My ravioli ended up also being tough and chewy. We threw it out and ordered pizza.
EASY And GOOD!
I was only able to get two layers out of this recipe not three. Is that correct?
You should be able to get three layers, but this will depend on your pan and the raviolis that you are using. Either way, 2 or 3 layers…doesn’t really matter! It will all taste the same.
Can this be assembled a day a head and then cooked the next day?
I have made it before & it was delicious but only same day
Yes, you can assemble this the day before and cover it in the refrigerator until you are ready to bake!
Can this be assembled a day a head and then cooked the next day?
Pretty good recipe for something quick. Only thing I added was alittle more sauce. Thank you
I question the carbs in this dish. It should have more than 1 gram.
Mine came out really dry. I must have overcooked it. Any suggestions on how to salvage the leftovers?? I was thinking I could try adding more sauce on top, heat it up, and hope that gives it some moisture. Any suggestions?? I don’t want to throw it out.
Oh no! So sorry about that. Yes, I would add some additional sauce!
