Blended Baked Oats Ingredients
- Old fashioned rolled or quick oats, both work for this recipe
- Banana
- Egg
- Almond milk or milk of your choice
- Maple syrup or honey
- Baking powder
- Chocolate chips (optional add-in)
Substitutions and Additions
- Optional Add-Ins: Customize your baked blender oatmeal with your favorite fillings. Try mixing in chocolate chips, peanut butter, a nut or seed butter (like almond butter or cashew butter), fresh berries, cocoa powder, sprinkles, or even a scoop of protein powder.
- Pick Your Porridge Oats: You can use any type of porridge oats for this recipe. Old fashioned rolled oats, jumbo, or quick oats will all give the same result. However, I do not recommend using steel cuts oats for this recipe.
- Make With Another Milk: I used almond milk because that is what the viral recipe on Tik Tok uses. However, I have tested this with cow’s milk and oat milk and the recipe works just as well. Use whichever dairy or plant based milk you prefer.
- Vegan Version: To make this recipe vegan use maple syrup, agave, stevia, or coconut nectar and not honey. You can also use flaxseed egg instead of egg. Combine 1 tbsp of flaxseed and 3 tbsp of water, allow to sit for 5 minutes then use in place of the egg in the recipe. Or you can skip the egg altogether, however the oats may not rise as much.
Recommended Tools
- 8 ounce ramekins
- Nonstick cooking spray
- Blender
How to Make Blended Baked Oats
- Blend: Pulse the oats for a few seconds until fine and look like oat flour. Add the remaining base recipe ingredients and blend on high for about a minute.
- Bake: Divide the batter between the two ramekins, mix in chocolate chips, and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20-25 minutes or until the oats have risen and are springy to the touch.
- Serve: Garnish with chocolate chips and a drizzle of maple syrup. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Tips For Making The Best Blended Baked Oats
- I used a Magimix blender however this recipe will work in any blender, smoothie maker, or NutriBullet.
- You can substitute the banana for 1/2 cup applesauce.
- This recipe serves two. However, you can easily increase the ingredients to make enough chocolate oatmeal to feed a crowd! If you are making in a larger dish with higher quantities increase the baking time by ten minutes. You will know the oats are cooked when they have risen, feel springy to the touch and are shrinking away from the edges of the dish.
- Make sure to use certified gluten-free rolled oats if you have a gluten sensitivity or following a gluten-free diet.
How to Store Blended Baked Oats
- To Store: Cover and refrigerate for up to 2 days.
- To Reheat: Reheat in the microwave until piping hot.
Oats Are heart-Healthy
Oats are among the healthiest grains and a perfect addition to many sweet and savory recipes. They are naturally gluten-free whole grain and loaded with essential vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants. Consuming oats as part of a weekly meal plan may prove effective for weight management, lowering blood sugar levels, and reducing the risk of heart disease.
To keep your blended baked oats breakfast healthy, make sure to add low-sugar, low-fat mix-ins. Fresh berries can offer extra vitamins, nut butter add a boost of protein, and even cocoa powder contains polyphenols and antioxidants that help control blood sugar levels.
