How to make Chocolate Fudge

Microwave Chocolate Fudge is the easiest and fastest way to make creamy candy at home. Smooth, rich, decadent, and absolutely delicious!

  1. Melt: Pour the condensed milk over the chocolate chips and microwave in 30-second increments, stirring every 30-seconds, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Chill: Pour the mixture into the prepared pan, smooth the top, and place it in the fridge until the fudge cools completely and sets, about 2-3 hours.
  3. Serve: Remove the fudge from the pan, cut them into squares, and serve. Enjoy!

How long does it take fudge to set?

I recommend 2-3 hours in the refrigerator for the fudge to completely set. If you are in a rush, an hour will be good, but it may be on the softer side and harder to cut.

Tips for Easy Fudge

  • Make sure you use sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated milk).
  • I like to line my pan with parchment paper so I can lift out the fudge and cut it on a cutting board instead of in the pan.
  • Be careful not to overcook your fudge or it will become grainy.

How to store Microwave Fudge

It is best if eaten within 3-4 days if stored at room temperature or in the fridge for up to two weeks.

Can I freeze my fudge?

You can make microwave fudge ahead of time and freeze it.
Wrap the fudge with 2-3 layers of plastic wrap, then wrap with aluminum foil and place in freezer bag or freezer-safe container. You can store it in the freezer for up to 2 months.

When ready to use place the fudge in the refrigerator overnight to thaw and then let it come to room temperature before serving.

2 Ingredient Fudge FAQs

What is the best way to cut through the fudge?

To cut your fudge, it’s best to use a large chef knife. You can warm the knife by running it under warm water, then dry it off with a towel before slicing.

Why do I have to stir the fudge mixture so often?

If you don’t stir the fudge mixture often, the middle of the chocolate will burn before the outside of the chocolate is melted. You will also end up with a grainy fudge because the crystals in the chocolate will separate.

Is there a certain type of chocolate chip I should use?

The type of chocolate chip you use for your fudge all depends on personal taste. Just make sure you are using a chocolate chip that you like because that will be the flavor of the fudge.
This recipe is so easy, you can make multiple batches with different flavors of chocolate chips.

What makes fudge moist?

The use of sweetened condensed milk in the recipe contributes to the fudge’s moistness by adding both sweetness and a creamy texture.

How do you make fudge smooth and not grainy?

To ensure smooth, non-grainy fudge, melt the chocolate and sweetened condensed milk together gently and stir frequently to prevent the chocolate from overheating and seizing.

Why won’t my microwave fudge set?

Microwave fudge may not set if it’s not heated enough to melt the chocolate completely.
