Strawberry Frosé Recipe

Our easy Strawberry Frosé recipe is a refreshing frozen cocktail served like a grown-up style slushie! But unlike those other frozen drinks made with powdered mixes and preservatives, this one uses real fruit, fresh lemon juice, and rosé wine, so it’s healthier, even if you don’t skip the small amount of sweetener.

Skip the bar, grab your blender and get ready to start sipping – this super easy summer wine slushie can be made in under 3 minutes.

What Is Frosé

Simply stated, frosé is frozen Rosé wine. When you first see this drink, it looks like any other frozen cocktail, like my watermelon margarita or a daiquiri. The difference here is that the alcohol base is wine! Specifically, it’s made using rosé wine.

Frozen + rosé is where the name frosé comes from. I like to think of it as an adult slushie that can be made in a variety of flavors and sweetness levels.

Frosé Ingredients

frose ingredients.
  • Frozen strawberries: I like to use frozen strawberries to blend with the rosé so that the texture remains frozen without requiring too much ice! Feel free to try other frozen fruits, like raspberries, peaches, or mangoes instead of strawberries.
  • Rosé wine: Use any affordable bottle of rosé that you love. Dry or sweet wine work equally as well. You can also use white wine if you prefer.
  • Simple syrup: You can also use granulated sugar, strawberry syrup, or another sweetener of your choice. Agave nectar or honey are great options. However, you can skip the added sweetener altogether to cut some calories and make this a healthier, skinny strawberry frose, especially if you don’t like your drink on the sweeter side.
  • Lemon juice: A splash of lemon juice helps balance the sweetness of the strawberries. For a more of a margarita feel, you can add some lime juice instead of lemon juice.
  • Ice cubes: Just a few ice cubes give your drink a thick slushy texture. If you have the option to use crushed ice from your freezer, this tends to blend a lot easier and more evenly! If you don’t have the option, no worries, ice cubes will work just as well.

Tips & Variations

  • Make More: You can double or triple the ingredients if you are serving slushies to a crowd. It takes no time at all to make as many batches as you need. If you have a bigger blender, you can add all of the ingredients at once to make a double batch.
  • Don’t Over Do It: The amount of blending time will depend on your blender’s power. Typically it takes about 30-60 seconds. However, if you’re using a very powerful blender it might be less. Be sure not to over blend. You don’t want the drink to get watery!
  • Taste The Tropics: Use half strawberries and half mango or half strawberries and half pineapple for a nice tropical fruity flavor.
  • Add More Alcohol: To make this a bit more boozy, or if you want a bit more “bam”, add 1 ounce of vodka per serving. This would be a great idea for a bachelorette party! (You may need to up the ice.)
  • Make It With Mint: Mint pairs perfectly with strawberries (think strawberry mojito style)! You can add mint directly into the blender mix or just use it as a garnish.

Proper Storage

Store leftovers in ice cube trays and freeze them. Once they’ve frozen completely, pop them out and put them in a Ziplock freezer bag. That way, they’re ready for blending right away. But remember, after having a couple of these drinks, don’t accidentally put the leftovers in the fridge! They must be kept frozen!

How To Make Ahead

Blend everything together following step 1 and then freeze in ice cube forms. Then you can just grab some ice cubes and quickly blend them up to have a quick frose.
