Kool-Aid Ice Cubes In Sprite Or Water

Our easy Kool-Aid Ice Cube recipe takes only 5 minutes to make by dissolving sugar and powdered drink mix in water and then freezing the liquid into colored ice cubes.

These colorful ice cubes taste great with water, Sprite, white grape juice, or your favorite Kool Aid flavor – it’s always fun to watch translucent drinks turn tinted when the ice melts and blends into the beverage.

Pop a few different flavors together in one glass to make a fruit punch mixture or keep your kool aid cubes separate as a single color – kids will love to splash flavored ice cubes in sprite and sip on a sweetened soda.

Who knew that a frozen cube could bring bright color to a clear beverage and make it even better? The perfect drink cubes for parties or even to eat as a cool snack.

Kool Aid Ice Cubes Ingredients

  • Cold water
  • Granulated sugar
  • Packets of Kool Aid mix

Substitutions and Additions

  • Pick Your Packet: I used Cherry, Blue Raspberry Lemonade, and Grape Kool-Aid packets for my ice cubes. Feel free to make your cubes with your favorite flavors and colors. You can even try using a pouch of Hawaiian Punch singles.
  • Create Your Cubes: Use a clear liquid, like sprite (or any lemon lime soda), water, sparkling water, or any Kool-Aid drink powder to create your ice cubes.

How to Make Kool Aid Ice Cubes

  1. Create Your Cubes: Mix together water, sugar, and a packet of Kool-Aid until dissolved. Pour into ice cube trays and freeze for at least 6 hours overnight.
  2.  Serve: When completely frozen, serve with your favorite drink. Enjoy!

Tips For Making Kool-Aid Ice Cubes

  • I like to place my ice cube trays on a flat, firm, moveable surface like a tray or cookie sheet. This makes transportation to the freezer a lot easier.
  • Use a drink pitcher with a pour spout.
  • The colors will run slightly when you add the cubes to a beverage. But they won’t mix or blend together right away.
  • You can’t taste the Kool-Aid flavoring immediately but you can taste it over several minutes! However, it is mild.
  • You can mix different flavors of cubes together in one glass or keep them separate.

How to Store Kool-Aid Ice Cubes

  • To Store: Store your ice cubes in a freezer-safe bag in the freezer for a few months.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many ice cubes does this recipe make?

This recipe makes a ton of ice!! Each Kool-Aid pitcher makes 8 cups and 1 cup fills up a 16-cube ice tray. So if you made all of the ice, you would have about 384 ice cubes.

What liquids should I use to make my ice cubes?

These ice cubes go great with water or any Kool-Aid drink. I do not recommend making ice cubes with soda other than Sprite. And they also don’t taste great with juice other than white grape juice.
