Tips From Our Recipe Developer

  • If you decide to add the garnishes, do not add them until you’re ready to serve the shots.
  • Be careful going over ½ cup champagne as alcohol can cause the jello to not set up.
  • I use an injector to fill my shot cups because it’s just quicker and less messy. However, a pourable measuring cup works as well.
  • If you place all your empty cups onto a small rimmed tray before filling them with the liquid it will be easier to transfer your Mimosa Jello Shots to the refrigerator to chill.

Storage Tips

  • To Store: These shots will keep in the fridge for about 2 weeks, without garnishes added. If storing, be sure to place the lids on the shots and do not add garnishes until you are ready to serve.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make my jello shots in advance?

You can make Jello Shots a few days ahead of time and store them in the refrigerator with the plastic lids that come with the package of shot cups. Garnish them just before you are ready to serve.

Can I freeze my jello shots?

It is not recommended to freeze these shots because the consistency and texture will change. It is best to keep them covered in the fridge until you are ready to serve them. If you choose to freeze your jello shots, they will not freeze solid. The texture may be grainy or icy, but you can eat them straight from the freezer if you don’t mind the cold.

Can I make these jello shots without alcohol?

You can leave out the champagne to make these jello shots non-alcoholic and replace it with sparkling white grape juice for a similar taste. You can also try ginger ale for a slightly stronger taste. Either substitution will make a perfectly flavorful and fun jello shot that is kid-friendly or for adults who prefer no alcohol.
