Doubly Delicious Oreo Stuffed Cookies

These Oreo Stuffed Cookies only look like an ordinary oversized chocolate chip cookie, but once you take a bite, you’ll discover the sweetest surprise stuffed inside an full Oreo cookie!

Baking a batch of these cookies is super easy and straightforward: just make my homemade cookie dough, wrap it around an Oreo, and place it in the oven to bake the cookie in a cookie.

If you haven’t yet discovered the stuffed cookie trend, these thick and chunky treats prove that there’s nothing more fun than biting into a soft and chewy cookie to find an Oreo inside.

The secret to creating the perfect double dessert recipe (like mine) is that the from-scratch dough must securely hold an Oreo cookie and hide it without breaking so that each bite is better than a single serving because it’s super-sized!

Tips

  • 1 of these cookies is the equivalent to 2 traditional sized cookies.
  • Serve these cookies by themselves or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
  • It is not necessary to grease your cookie sheets–it will make the cookies spread and change their texture. I recommend lining your baking sheet with Parchment paper.
  • Don’t overbake your cookies. Cookies will continue to cook on hot cookie sheet when removed from oven.

Storage Tips

  • To Store: These cookies will last about 4 days when stored on the counter in an airtight container.
  • To Freeze: You can freeze these cookies either baked or unbaked for 2-3 months in a freezer safe container.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I use dark or light brown sugar in this recipe?

You can use either dark or light brown sugar in this recipe. We tested both and did not notice much of a difference in the final product. Dark brown sugar just has more molasses in it, so it has a sweeter flavor.

What is the best way to heat my frozen cookies?

If you are freezing the cookies already baked, simply pop them in the microwave until heated all the way through. If you are freezing them unbaked, bake them at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 15-20 minutes or air fry them on 375 until heated all the way through.

Can I make these cookies with store-bought chocolate chip cookie dough?

I always make these with homemade cookie dough, but if you don’t have the extra time (or you are feeling lazy!), store-bought chocolate chip cookie dough does work fine. Just keep in mind that store-bought cookie dough is a bit thinner than this recipe and results in a crispier texture.

Is there a trick to stuffing the Oreos inside the cookie dough?

There is a trick to stuffing your cookies to make them look perfect. I like to put about 75% of the dough on top of the Oreo and 25% on the bottom. If you try and put equal amounts of dough on both top and bottom, you’ll end up with a flat cookie with a big lump in the middle where the Oreo is. Placing more of the dough on top helps to keep the cookies uniformly shaped when they come out of the oven.
