Cut each slice of bread into 3 to 4 even sections.
In a large bowl, whisk the eggs and then add in the heavy cream, light brown sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir until combined.
Prep the air fryer basket by spraying it with cooking spray.
Dunk each piece of bread into the batter and then spread them out in an even layer in the fryer basket. Do not stack them. You may need to do more than one batch so as to not overcrowd the fryer.
Cook at 380 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes, then flip and cook for another 2 minutes on the opposite side.
Plate and serve with a dash of powdered sugar and a side of your favorite syrup.

Tips:
You may want to consider placing parchment paper in the basket of the air fryer for easier cleanup.
If your air fryer has cooled down or hasn’t been preheated, you may need to cook the first batch of French toast sticks for an extra 1-2 minutes.
Pro tip: French toast normally works best with slightly stale bread. It allows the egg and milk mixture to soak into the bread without falling apart as easily. If you don't have stale bread handy, you can put your slices of bread in a single layer in your air fryer at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for one minute. This helps to harden the bread slightly and make it easier to work with. It's not completely necessary, but it may make your life a little easier.
