Apple Pie Cinnamon Roll Breakfast Bake is my favorite make-ahead recipe when I want to bake my breakfast when I wake up. This simple fall-flavored casserole is so easy to make with refrigerated cinnamon rolls and apple pie filling.
2cans (8 count)refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
¼cupsalted buttermelted
21ounce(½ can) apple pie filling
2Tablespoonscaramel syrup
Extra caramel syrupoptional garnish
Instructions
Spray a 9x13 inch casserole pan with cooking spray and preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dark brown sugar and cinnamon until combined.
Open the cinnamon rolls and cut each into fourths using a pizza cutter.
Place the cinnamon roll quarters into the bowl with the sugar and cinnamon mixture and toss gently until the rolls are evenly covered.
Scoop the entire contents of the large mixing bowl into the prepared casserole pan and gently spread it out into an even layer.
Pour the melted butter all over the pan, focusing on the edges so that they don’t dry out.
In a medium sized bowl, mix together the apple pie filling and the caramel syrup until combined.
Use a knife or fork to cut the apple slices into bite size pieces.
Scoop the apple pie mixture onto the cinnamon rolls in several places and then gently even it out into a single layer. Not all the cinnamon rolls will be covered but you want to have apples scattered evenly all over the top.
Bake for about 35-40 minutes or until the cinnamon rolls are firm to the touch and beginning to turn golden brown.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes before drizzling it with the icing from the cinnamon roll cans and the extra caramel syrup, optional.
Serve warm.
Notes
Storage:
To Store: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-5 days.
To Freeze: Place the leftovers in a freezer-safe container and freeze for 3-4 months.
To Reheat: Reheat in the microwave or oven until heated through.
Tips:
Do not discard the the icing packet that comes in the cinnamon roll can. You'll need it for drizzling! If your can of dough does not come with icing, you can make your own by dissolving powdered sugar in water.
If storing your casserole in the fridge overnight, be sure to follow any instructions for your bakeware when baking with cold glassware or ceramic dishes so that they do not crack.
