Equipment
Non-stick cooking spray
Large circular cookie cutter
*Small heart shaped cookie cutter (optional)
Ingredients
apple pie filling
canned
1
egg
¼
cup
brown sugar
1
sheet
pre-made pie crust
¼
cup
caramel sauce
Instructions
Unfold the pie crust and use a large circular cookie cutter to make 7 circles. (Set one of the circles aside)
Brush the caramel sauce on 3 of the circles.
Place apple pie mixture on top of the caramel sauce. Top the apples with another circular pie crust.
Use a fork to crimp down the edges of the pies. (you may want to make two small slits in the top for the heat to vent.)
Mix the egg into a small bowl with the brown sugar. Brush the brown sugar and egg mixture on top of the hand pies.
Cut the small hearts into the remaining circle of dough and place them on top of the hand pies. (optional)
Air Fryer Instructions
Pre-heat the air fryer to 390 degrees. Spray the bottom of the basket with non stick cooking spray.
Carefully place the hand pies into the basket of the air fryer and cook for 5 to 6 minutes.
*Start watching the pies after about 5 minutes since every air fryer can cook a little differently. Bake until browned. Serve warm.
Oven Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Spray a baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray.
Carefully place the hand pies onto the prepared cooking sheet and cook for 15-20 minutes or until browned.
Let sit for at least 15 minutes. Serve Warm

TIPS
:
I suggest doing a test run with one hand pie and then adjust the time/temp. As with ovens, air fryers are all similar, but cooking times can vary.
Cut two small vents in each hand pie to help the steam vent. This will prevent a soggy hand pie.
