Instructions
Wash and peel the apples. Chop the apples into quarters and add them to the crockpot.
Add the white sugar, brown sugar, water, lemon juice, and cinnamon to the crock pot. Gently stir to cover the apples.
Cover the crockpot and cook for 3-4 hours on high.
When the timer goes off, turn the crockpot off and let the apples cool for about 5 minutes.
Remove almost all of the excess liquid from the crockpot before blending with an immersion blender.
Serve warm or chilled, depending on preference.
Notes
Note: If you don't have an immersion blender, you can also mash the apples by hand, but you will have a bit of a chunky texture. You can also blend the apples in a blender.Storage :
To Store: Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 10 days.
To Freeze: Applesauce can be frozen in Ziploc freezer bags or an airtight plastic container for up to 6 months. Place it in the refrigerator overnight to thaw.
To Reheat: If you like your homemade applesauce warm, you can simply pop it in the microwave or heat it up in a saucepan on the stovetop.
