Instructions
Following the directions below for first a colored section, then a white section. You will start with a colored purple section and end with a red section, creating (5) white sections in between the rainbow.
Colored Layer: Mix together the 3 oz jello packet with 1 teaspoon of unflavored gelatin (about ½ of a 1 oz gelatin packet). Mix well with a fork. Add 1 cup of boiling water to the mix and pour in, stirring continuously. Continue to stir for about 1 minute until the mix is fully dissolved. Allow colored jello to sit for about 10 minutes to cool before adding it to the 9x13 baking dish. Pour gently and slowly into the dish. Place inside the refrigerator and allow the Jello to set until moving on (this takes about 30-45 minutes)
White Layer: Add ¼ cup condensed milk to a shallow bowl. Dissolve 1 teaspoon of unflavored gelatin (about ½ of a 1 oz gelatin packet) with ½ cup of boiling water. See notes for tips. Stir continuously until gelatin is fully dissolved. Pour mixture into condensed milk and mix until fully combined. Allow the mixture to sit for 5-10 minutes until fully cooled before adding to the dish. Pour over colored layer, slowly and gently. Place inside the refrigerator and allow the layer to set until moving on (this takes about 30-45 minutes)
Allow fully made Jello to chill for 4 hours or overnight. When ready to ready, cut with a sharp knife into 12 squares, making 2 cuts long-ways and 3 cuts side to side. Or you can cut these squares into 24 smaller cubes making 3 cuts longways and 5 cuts side to side.
Notes
Storage:
To Store: Store leftover jello squares in the fridge either in an airtight container or covered with plastic wrap for 5-7 days.
Tips:
You will need to purchase (2) packages of unflavored gelatin. Packages usually come with 5 packets of 10z gelatin.
When mixing together the gelatin and hot water, it will smell really bad!
Do not pour mixtures from a high range. This can cause the liquid to splatter and puncture the layers.
It is vital that each layer is completely set before adding the next.
Allow this Jello to fully set up overnight and chill before cutting.
